S. s. spinigerus

Yellow eyes, black tail spines as well as a black dorsal stripe running down from its neck to the tip of its tail forming a triangle while running out at the flanks – these are the main thumb-prints of Strophurus spinigerus spinigerus. The male animals, like you can see at the pictures, are in part very slim. If they feel optimally comfortable and/or on a light-colored bottom they change their basic shade to an almost white appearance.
